How to find your wedding photographer
Choosing your wedding photographer is probably one of the most important decisions you will make for your big day, but a majority of bride and grooms don’t know where to begin in finding the right photographer for the job. There are so many photographers out there, many different pricing structures, styles and what they offer!
Wedding photography is much more than just having a nice camera or taking a lot of pictures. The goal of this article is to help prevent you from hiring the wrong photographer, or even worse, “Uncle Frank.”
Do your research using the tips in this blog and you will find the right wedding photographer for you!
Photography Style – Do You Like Their Style Of Wedding Photography?
There are many photographers who have different styles of photography to choose from. The more you research, you’ll begin to notice what styles you do and do not like. You will get a better idea of the photographer’s artistic style from looking at their blog or website rather than a few images on their Instagram or Facebook page. Taking the extra time to research the complete portfolios of your top choices will definitely be worth it in the end.
Strong Reviews – How Was The Experience of Past Clients?
When you have found someone you like the look and style of, take a look at their reviews from previous clients. Do the reviews tick all the boxes in what you are looking for in regards to experience? Do they have outstanding reviews and no problems? Just remember, the best review of someone is a word of mouth referral from someone you know and trust. If you find someone check out their social media accounts and see if anyone you know has worked or seen that person at work, then ask them about their experience.
Personality – Being Personable and Charismatic
So you love their work and they have fantastic reviews…
What next? Contact them!
Check to see if they have your date available and if so arrange a meeting with them. It’s really important you do this and see their personality because you will end up spending more time with your photographer on your wedding day than your spouse, so its vitally important you get along with them and enjoy their personality. It’s also very important to find out how do they interact with their clients and guests at the wedding? Are they outgoing, personable, charismatic, professional, and honest? Is that the person you want to capture your big day?
Quality & Price – Quality over Quantity and Price
When seeking a photographer, it’s best to not get caught up in the number of products each photographer is promising. Stay focused on the actual quality of the work provided rather than the price and what they’re offering for it. I realise that some people are working within a budget, you can always purchase an album or additional products at a later date, but you can’t change the quality of the photographs taken at the wedding after the wedding day. I tell clients if there is something you need to cut from your package to make it more affordable, start with the products. Remove the album, but don’t go with a cheaper photographer because they are willing to give you all the products you want up front at a cheaper price.
And that’s it! It really isn’t hard or rocket science. Just take your time and do these little tips and you should find your photographer in no time!
